Where are StoPanels made?
StoPanels are manufactured by StoPanel Partners under license from Sto. StoPanel Partners manufacture the StoPanel system using genuine Sto components to system-tested specifications in quality-controlled manufacturing facilities. Panels are then transported to site for installation.
How are StoPanels installed at the job site?
The panels are typically installed on the building structure with a limited number of specialist on-site crew, using cranes to lift the panel into place.
How are StoPanels attached to the building?
Every panel is custom made and engineered, including connections, for its unique configuration, location, and connection to the building sub-structure. Typically, the panels are connected to the edge of the floor slab at every panel stud location with custom designed bracketry and prefabricated connection components as required to carry the design loads and to handle the expected wind load.
How quickly are StoPanels installed?
Schedule certainty is a key benefit of using StoPanel systems. The installation quantity and rate will be determined by a range of factors including the size of the panels, the complexity of the installation and the experience of the crew. On average, approximately 8 – 12 panels can be installed per day which should translate into approximately 800 – 1,500 m2. of the exterior surface of a building can be installed per week. Preliminary panelisation of the project and inspection of the site will allow the StoPanel installer to prepare a more accurate estimate of the rate of installation in advance of progressing to more detailed design
Can StoPanels be used in buildings where traditional block wall or pre-cast was originally planned?
In our experience, many projects can be converted from traditional design to a StoPanel design to take advantage of the multiple benefits of StoPanel wall panels, especially to meet schedule deadlines and to overcome challenges related to skills shortages. However, to avoid re-design and to take advantage of the potential structural savings that can be achieved from using a StoPanel system, it is highly advisable to discuss your project with a StoPanel specialist as early as possible, preferably at the concept or early design phase.
How is the construction project schedule impacted when using StoPanels?
When using a prefab solution, design decisions must be made early to permit factory manufacture to take place in time to be ready once the structure is completed. When using StoPanel on your project, the wall panels can be produced in the factory when the preliminary site works and substructure construction is underway meaning that finished walls can quickly drop into position as soon as the structure is ready. This compresses the construction timeline and means internal works can happen sooner. Schedule savings related to wall construction of as much as 80% have been achieved using StoPanels.
What is the process for using StoPanels on my project?
The first step is to engage with Sto as early as possible in your project design phase so we can assist you with designing your building to get maximum benefits and efficiency gains from using StoPanels. Based on your buildings’ architectural drawings we can determine the feasibility of using StoPanel and prepare a proposal setting out the various options and provide a preliminary cost estimate for your project. Following this, the detailed design phase will commence which concludes with bespoke panel manufacturing drawings to be used for panel manufacturing. Once the panels are manufactured they can be delivered to site for installation.
