Light Gauge Steel Frame (LGSF) offers high geometrical and dimensional accuracy, minimal shrinkage or expansion, unrivalled weight and strength ratio.
Lighter
At less than 20% of the weight of precast or conventional block walls, the light weight nature of StoPanels means that the structural and foundation load requirements can be reduced significantly.
Less waste
Site waste is virtually eliminated when using StoPanels based on LGSF sub-structure. Use of steel frames which have been rolled to length results in no waste during the panel manufacturing process.
Sustainability
Steel is 100% recyclable and can be reused without any loss of its performance characteristics. Approx. 75% of LGS material comes from recycled steel. Embodied carbon in the building fabric is reduced by up to 20 percent when using light steel framing and modular construction. Renewable energy technologies can be attached to and built-in the light steel and modular components.
Productivity & efficiency
Productivity and speed of construction can be increased significantly as material transport time is greatly reduced. 150 - 200 Sq. m of StoPanels can be delivered in a single delivery.
Safety
The significant reduction in site personnel when using StoPanels versus conventional construction has positive H&S impact. Steel is non-combustible and does not add to the fire load of a building.
Moisture & dimensional stability

What is included in a StoPanel?
A StoPanel is a project specific, custom-made, prefabricated wall assembly which consists of the wall framing, cementitious board, air and moisture barrier, insulation and a wide variety of aesthetic finishes or wall cladding options. The panel is usually completely factory finished with pre-formed openings for windows and any other mechanical and electrical installations.
How is fire stopping handled in the StoPanel system?
StoPanels are designed to comply with the relevant building code in all aspects. including in relation to fire. Where required, the StoPanel system can be designed to accommodate fire breaks as required by building code.
How are panel to panel joints addressed?
Typically, a dual-stage silicone sealant joint is installed on-site within the panel-to-panel joints. Alternatively, it is possible to apply an expanding sealant tape during the installation process.
What are the size limitations of StoPanels?
There are several factors to consider when determining the ultimate size of exterior panels, such as the building substructure, the project design intent, location of window openings, transport limitations and project specific site considerations. As a guideline, a 3m x 6m or 24m2 panel is an optimal panel size while taking in the considerations mentioned above.
